Engagement rate
The ratio of interactions (likes, comments, shares, saves) to reach or follower count.
Engagement rate measures how actively an audience reacts to content. It's calculated as interactions ÷ reach (or followers) × 100 and is a key indicator of content quality.
Why it matters
Social algorithms reward engagement with organic reach. A high engagement rate means more free impressions and cheaper reach.
Real-world example
A profile with 10,000 followers and 8% engagement often has more real impact than an account with 100,000 passive followers and 0.5% engagement.
